Undergraduate Specializations

  • Wildlife Ecology: Students in this specialization train in the biological, social, physical, and management sciences, and excel at both the scientific and human dimensions of managing wildlife and natural resources. With appropriate choices of electives and course options graduates satisfy requirements to apply for certification as an Associate Wildlife Biologist with The Wildlife Society.
  • Conservation: This specialization allows students the flexibility to select a secondary focus comprised of 7 courses (21 credit hours) in one of three areas: land management, human dimensions, or quantitative sciences. Some students in this specialization may also satisfy requirements for certification as an Associate Wildlife Biologist with The Wildlife Society.
  • Preprofessional: This specialization satisfies the course work requirements for admission to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. Some students may also satisfy requirements for certification as an Associate Wildlfie Biologist with The Wildlife Society.
  • Biology Education: Students in this specialization complete course work requirements for both a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in wildlife ecology and conservation and a minor in secondary education. Combining the B.S. from this program with a Master of Education completes the course work requirements for certification as a biological science teacher in the State of Florida.
