Graeme Cumming: Current StudentsHeidi Richter (Ph.D, started 2004) completed her M.Sc. study of the fruit bats at Kasanka National Park (Zambia) in Summer 2004, and is now working on her doctorate. Ann George (M.Sc., started 2003) is working on landscape influences on plant succession in abandoned citrus groves in northern Florida. Brian Spiesman (M.Sc., started 2003) is working on landscape influences on insect diversity and species-area relationships in forested areas of Puerto Rico and Florida. Chris Burney (M.Sc., started 2004) is working on spatial and temporal variation in the bat communities of Florida. Santiago Espinosa (Ph.D., started 2004) is working on the landscape ecology and conservation of the spectacled bear in Ecuador. Information for prospective students PLEASE NOTE that I am moving to the Percy FitzPatrick Institute at the University of Cape Town in January 2006, and so am only accepting students who are interested in doing their degrees through UCT.
