Setting Up a VPN Connection - Cisco Anyconnect Client
To get started using the Anyconnect VPN client, simply browse to https://vpn.ufl.edu. Once you authenticate with your gatorlink account, the VPN client will be automatically installed onto your machine. Prior to installation, please read the Gatorlink VPN Installation Instructions. Some clients require minor changes to the browser or operating system to install properly. Once the client is installed, you will want to review the Gatorlink VPN Operations Guide for more information on using the client.
Accesing Network Folders
You can access folders on the network directly once you have connected to the VPN. To do so, open any window that has an address bar (such as My Computer), and type one of the addresses below. There can be slight delay when connecting to these folders from off campus. Once it connects, you will be prompted for your username and password. You MUST enter UFAD\gatorlinkusername in the username box, and your gatorlink password for the password. (See picture of this step)
Here are the common folders we use:
- T: Drive - \\ad.ufl.edu\ifas\wec\private\
- U: Drive - \\ad.ufl.edu\ifas\wec\users\ (you will only see your folder after this, and it will change depending on who you are)
- R: Drive (Coop) \\if-wec-coop-srv\data\
Remote Desktop
You can access a work computer from home, as long as the machine is on and not set to sleep. Before you can remote connect you must be connected to the VPN. Use the Remote Desktop tool in Windows, which is located in Start -> All Programs -> Accesories -> Remote Desktop Connection. You will need the name of your PC that is at work to connect to it, see below to find your computer name.
