WGSA Awards of Excellence |
Each year the Wildlife Graduate Student Association (WGSA) offers awards for excellence in service and research. There is a total of four awards that are given each year: one each for PHD and Masters research and one ecah for PhD and Masters service. Each winner receives a certificate of accomplishment and a $35 gift certificate to Georing's Bookstore. Research Awards
All WEC grad students that graduated this past Fall or will DEFINITELY be graduating this Spring or Summer are automatically eligible for the research awards. Since eligibility depends on graduation, each person is only eligible once per degree. Contact the WGSA Travel and Awards Committee if you fit these criteria or know of someone who fits these criteria but may not have received this message.
Excellence in research nominees will be asked to provide an abstract of their research, list of publications, list of any papers and posters presented at conferences, and any additional information that will aid judges in evaluating the originality and rigor of research performed. Winners will chosen based on the below criteria.
Service Awards
All WEC grad students that are currently enrolled or were enrolled this past Summer or Fall are eligible for this award. Everyone is eligible for this award more than once while a graduate student. You must be nominated to be considered for this award. Nominations by others or self nominations are both accepted (others may not know what you are doing so please don't hesitate to nominate yourself!). Please contact WGSA Travel and Awards Committee to make a nomination.
Excellence in Service nominees will be asked to provide a list of service projects that they have been involved with within the department, university, and the community. Winners will be chosen based on the below criteria.
Deadlines
Nominations for all awards must be received by MARCH 10. The sooner the nominations are made, the more time norminees will have to submit requested material. Nominees will be requested to submit all information by March 20th. Final decisions will be made by April 1st.
